project description
Petronas Floating Natural Gas Satu or PFLNG-1 is the world’s first operational FLNG facility. It was developed for the Kanowit gas field off the coast of Sarawak in Malaysia.
PFLNG-1 was constructed in South Korea and the facility was towed to its location, 180 km offshore of Bintulu. An agreement was achieved between PETRONAS and KPOC to relocate the PFLNG-1 from Kumang Cluster Field in Sarawak water to KPOC’s Kebabangan Gas Field (KBB) in Sabah water.
HGIS won the Survey and Positioning services with main contractor, Delsol Offshore Sdn. Bhd. for the Provision of Transportation and Installation for PFLNG1 Relocation covering two regions of Sarawak Offshore and Sabah Offshore. The project covered multiple scope of work which include HGIS specialise Geophysical and Geomatics solutions for T&I Platform support services. It comprised turnkey support from Pre & Post Disconnection Survey at Kumang Kanowit, Pre & Post Installation Survey at Kebabangan, Survey & Positioning Support during Disconnection, Pre-lay of Mooring Anchors & Chains, Flexible Flowline Installation & Hookup, Mooring Chains Installation & Hookup as well as FLNG1 final Positioning.
HGIS were also the service provider for Site Investigation Survey at Kebabangan directly with Petronas Carigali during the pre-planning stage. This gives HGIS the total end-to-end experience and granularity of the project.
Understanding the skill-sets required or the operation was vital with strategic resource planning. HGIS assigned a dedicated Project Manager and Offshore Project Manager to ensure granularity from pre-planning stage to offshore execution stage. Specific technical skill-sets were handpicked and divided into divisions to cover multiple regions. The project involved simultaneous operation on multiple vessels. In total, 19 survey personnel and 45 survey equipment was deployed.
